Architects and protected species

Whether on a demolition, brownfield or greenfield site there is always the potential for protected species to be present. Most species are protected to some degree through the Wildlife and Countryside act or European legislation.

With European protected species such as bats (all bats and their roosts are protected), otters and many birds species the consequence of disturbance or death of these species during construction can be a fine or imprisonment.

construction work within or adjacent to a watercourse may require an Otter Lcence and a mitigation plan that takes account of likely impacts

We can provide advice and guidance to architects and developers undertaking new builds or extension works.

pre-constrcution bat survey was undertaken to ensure engineering works on bridge did not impact on bats or bat roosts.

We can undertake pre-construction Protected Species surveys and provide a mitigation plan that will allow the development to proceed with minimum risk to the project and wildlife.
